Alisbah Awards
The Bilsel Alisbah Fellowship honors outstanding Curriculum and Instruction with Teaching Certificate (CITE) students who demonstrate exceptional academic and professional promise. The fellowship reflects the Alisbah family’s longstanding commitment to supporting education and future educators.
Bilsel Alisbah Fellowship Award Presented
Each year, one or more Bilsel Alisbah Fellowships are awarded to MA students in the Faculty of Education’s Curriculum and Instruction with Teaching Certificate (CITE) program.
This year’s recipient, Deniz Kaygusuz, received the award at a ceremony held via Zoom on March 30 in recognition of her outstanding potential in both academic and professional endeavors.
Established to support Bilkent University’s efforts to prepare a “new breed” of teachers with advanced qualifications through the CITE program, the fellowships honor the memory of Bilsel Alisbah (1937–2017). They represent the second category of fellowship instituted at the university through the generosity of the Alisbah family.
In 1998, Bilsel Alisbah—then a lecturer at Bilkent University—began presenting fellowships to students in the Department of Mathematics in memory of his father, Prof. Orhan Alisbah, one of Turkey’s most distinguished mathematicians. Following Bilsel Alisbah’s passing in 2017, his family established an additional fellowship in his name to support students in the Faculty of Education.
